चेन्नई। चंद्रयान 3 के लॉन्च काउंटडाउन को आवाज देने वाली इसरो साइंटिस्ट वलारमथी का शनिवार को हार्ट अटैक से निधन हो गया। चंद्रयान-3 को 14 जुलाई को श्रीहरिकोटा के सतीश धवन अंतरिक्ष केंद्र से लॉन्च किया गया था। रॉकेट फायर करने से पहले उलटी गिनती को ही काउंटडाउन कहा जाता है।
ISRO के PRO के मुताबिक वलारमथी सतीश धवन अंतरिक्ष केंद्र में रेंज ऑपरेशंस प्रोग्राम कार्यालय का हिस्सा थीं। वह भारत के पहले रडार इमेजिंग सैटेलाइट RISAT-1 की प्रोजेक्ट डायरेक्टर भी रह चुकी थीं।
वलारमथी 1984 में इसरो में शामिल हुईं थीं
तमिलनाडु के अरियालुर में रहने वाली वलारमथी का जन्म 31 जुलाई, 1959 को हुआ था। उन्होंने कोयंबटूर के गवर्नमेंट कॉलेज ऑफ टेक्नोलॉजी से इंजीनियरिंग में ग्रेजुएशन किया। वे 1984 में ISOR में शामिल हुई थीं। वे भारत के पहले स्वदेशी रडार इमेजिंग सैटेलाइट (RIS) और देश के दूसरे उपग्रह RISAT-1 की प्रोजेक्ट डायरेक्टर थीं।
2015 में, वे अब्दुल कलाम पुरस्कार पाने वाली फर्स्ट पर्सन बनीं। तमिलनाडु सरकार ने 2015 में पूर्व राष्ट्रपति अब्दुल कलाम के सम्मान में यह पुरस्कार शुरु किया था।

वलारमथी ने जिस चंद्रयान 3 की रॉकेट लॉन्चिंग करवाई थी। उसने अपना मिशन पूरा कर लिया है। इसरो ने शनिवार (02 सितंबर) को बताया कि प्रज्ञान रोवर ने अपना काम पूरा कर लिया है। इसे अब सुरक्षित रूप से पार्क कर स्लीप मोड में सेट किया गया है। इसमें लगे दोनों पेलोड APXS और LIBS अब बंद हैं। इन पेलोड से डेटा लैंडर के जरिए पृथ्वी तक पहुंचा दिया गया है।
