यूं तो दुनिया में बहुतेरे बड़बोले हैं जिनकी आदत ही बहुत ज्यादा बोलने की होती है। बातें चाहे मतलब की हो या बेमतलब की। मगर वे तो बोलोंगे ही। मगर कुछ ऐसा भी है जिन्हें जन्म से लेकर मृत्युपर्यन्त चुप रहने की ही हिदायत मिलती रहती है। बच्ची जब छोटी रहती है तो उसे मां-बाप हमेशा कहते सुने जा सकते हैं। चुप रहो, बच्चे ज्यादा नहीं बोलते। जब बच्ची थोड़ी बड़ी हो जाती है और बातें करती है, उनकी बातों को सुनकर मां तुरन्त झिड़कती है तुम बड़ी हो रही है जरा कम बोला करो। वही बच्ची जब जवान हो जाती है तो फिर उसे समझाईश। तुम्हे दूसरे के घर जाना है। थोड़ा कम बोलने की आदत डालो। बच्चियों को कदम-कदम पर कम बोलने की हिदायत मिलती रहती है। विवाह होने के बाद ससुराल पहुंची तो बच्ची के मन में आने लगता है कि चलो अब हमें कुछ छूट मिलेगी, मगर वहां तो और भी ज्यादा बंदिशें। सास का हुकम आता है चुप रहो, ये तुम्हारा पीहर नहीं है जो बकबक करती रहती हो। गृहस्थी संभालने के दिनों में कुछ बोलना पड़ा तो पति कहता है चुप रहो, तुम क्या जानो। महिला अगर नौकरी पर गई, वहां कुछ बोला तो कहा जाता है कि नौकरी करने आई हो या बकबक करने। नौकरी करनी है डिसिपलेन में रहते हुए चुप रहो। उम्र ढलने पर बच्चों की ओर से भी कहा जाने लगा चुप रहो ना, तुम्हें इन बातों से क्या लेना-देना। ये तुम्हारे काम की नहीं है। उमर ढलकर बुढ़ापे ने दस्तक दी और कुछ बोला तो फिर वही चुप रहने की हिदायत, ज्यादा मत बोलो तुम्हें आराम की जरूरत है। चुप रहो, चुप रहो का सामना करते हुए एक दिन यमराज सामने आ जाता है और कहता है कि चुप रहो, अब तुम्हारा अंत आ गया है। ….और वह हमेशा के लिए चुप हो जाती है। (फिर कभी पुरुषों के लिए भी चलेगी लेखनी)
