मुस्लिम अपने धार्मिक रिवाज के मुताबिक एक से अधिक विवाह कर सकते हैं। इसके लिए पहली पत्नी की सहमति जरूरी है। यह अधिकार मुस्लिम महिलाओं को नहीं है। असम मुख्यमंत्री हेमंत बिस्वा सरमा ने बताया कि बहुविवाह पर प्रतिबंध को लेकर सार्वजनिक सूचना के जवाब में 149 प्रतिक्रियाएं मिली। इसमें से 146 विधेयक के समर्थन में हैं। तीन संस्थानों ने बहु विवाह का विरोध जताया है। अब सरकार अब 45 दिनों में इसे अंतिम रूप देगी। बहु विवाह को लेकर विधेयक पेश किया जाएगा।
21 अगस्त को मांगे थे सुझाव
असम सरकार ने बहुविवाह को लेकर 21 अगस्त को नोटिस जारी किया था। गृह और राजनीतिक विभाग की तरफ से जारी इस नोटिस में 30 अगस्त तक सभी को डाक और ईमेल से सुझाव मांगे गए थे। इसके बाद सरकार के पास 149 प्रतिक्रियाएं इस संबंध में पहुंची। इसमें 146 समर्थन में पाई गई। इससे पहले सरकार ने एक विशेषज्ञ समिति का गठन किया था। गौरतलब है 13 जुलाई को मुख्यमंत्री सरमा ने कहा था कि वह बहुविवाद पर तुरंत ही प्रतिबंध लगाना चाहते हैं।
सितंबर में पेश होगा विधेयक
बहुविवाह को रोकने के लिए विधेयक सितंबर में पेश किया जाएगा। असम विधानसभा में सत्र के दौरान इससे जुड़ा विधेयक पेश किया जाएगा। किसी वजह से अगर यह नहीं हो पाता है तो जनवरी में यह अवश्य ही पेश कर दिया जाएगा। समान नगारिक संंहित अगर इसके बाद आती है तो बहुविवाह प्रतिबंध कानून का विलय हो जाएगा।
