नई दिल्ली। श्रीसंत ने फर्स्ट क्लास क्रिकेट के सभी फॉर्मेट से संन्यास लेने की बुधवार को घोषणा कर दी। साल 2007 टी20 विश्व कप और 2011 विश्व कप विजेता भारतीय टीम के मेंबर रह चुके श्रीसंत ने सोशल मीडिया पर पेशेवर क्रिकेट से संन्यास लेने का ऐलान किया। वह हाल में रणजी ट्रॉफी में केरल की ओर से खेल रहे थे। लेकिन चोट के लगने के बाद उन्हें अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया था। श्रीसंत को इस बार आईपीएल 2022 नीलामी में किसी भी टीम ने नहीं खरीदा था। तेज गेंदबाज ने भारत के लिए 27 टेस्ट और 53 वनडे मैचों में क्रमश: 87 और 75 विकेट चटकाए हैं। इसके अलावा 10 T20 इंटरनेशनल क्रिकेट में उनके खाते में सात विकेट दर्ज है।
श्रीसंत ने सोशल मीडिया पर प्रोफेशनल क्रिकेट से रिटायरमेंट लेने की जानकारी देते हुए लिखा, ‘अगली पीढ़ी के क्रिकेटरों के लिए..मैंने अपना प्रथम श्रेणी क्रिकेट को अलविदा करने का फैसला किया है। यह निर्णय मेरा खुद का है। हालांकि मैं जानता हूं कि इससे मुझे खुशी नहीं मिलेगी। लेकिन यह मेरे जीवन में निर्णय लेने का सही समय है। मैंने हर पल का इसका आनंद लिया है।’ आईपीएल में वह राजस्थान रॉयल्स के अलावा पंजाब किंग्स टीम का भी हिस्सा रह चुके हैं।
