यूं तो महिलाओं ने हमारी संस्कृति को काफी हद तक बचा रखा है। मगर वे भी अब क्यों कर भारतीय संस्कृति को पकड़ कर बैठी रहेंगी। उन्हें भी चाहिए स्वतंत्रता और स्वच्छंद वातावरण। उन्हें भी कोई रोकने-टोकने वाला मंजूर नहीं। इसलिए उन्होंने भी बहुत कुछ भारतीय संस्कृति को छोड़ दिया है और धीरे-धीरे वे भी अब पाश्चात्य संस्कृति को अपना रही हैं। तभी तो आजकल शाम-सुबह जब प्रात:कालीन भ्रमण के लिए जाएंगे तो आपको उनकी झलक दिखाई देगी। उनके पहनावे और आपसी बातचीत में बहुत कुछ बदला-बदला सा नजर आएगा। अजकल चूड़ी पहनना भी उनको नागवार लगने लगा है। अपवादों को छोड़ दें तो अब एक हाथ में घड़ी और दूसरे में कड़ा या फिर कोई धागा बंधा हुआ दिखाई देगा। पारंपरिक रूप से हाथ में पहने जाने वाली चूडिय़ां लगभग नदारद हो गई हैं। महिलाओं को अब तो माथे पर बिंदिया भी लगाना नागवार लगने लगा है। बहुत सी महिलाओं और लड़कियों ने साड़ी पहनना ही छोड़ दिया है। सलवार और जींस पेंट पहनना अच्छा लगने लगा है। कई महिलाएं तो कपड़े पहनने की बंदिशों के चलते अपने पति को मां-बाप से अलग कर दूर रहने की जिद करके संयुक्त परिवार को छोड़ कर अपने को स्वतंत्र भी कर लेती हैं। कई महिलाओं ने बिछिया, चूड़ी, दुपट्टा, चुनरी और मांग में सिंदूर भरना भी छोड़ दिया है। पैसों की अंधी दौड़ में बच्चों को आया (बच्चों को पालने वाली महिला नौकर) के भरोसे छोड़कर नौकरी करना। फिर कहां से आएगा उन बच्चों में संस्कार। ऐसे में अब सोचिए कि कौन सी भारतीय संस्कृति या संस्कार बच रहे हैं। जिन पर हमें गर्व हो। शिक्षा पद्धति भी बदल गई है। कहां गई वो शा और श की शिक्षा जो गुरुकुलों में दी जाती थी। अब कहां बचे हैं ऐसे गुरु। अब तो गुरु, शिष्य और शिष्या का संबंध ही कलंकित होने लगा है। गौर से देखें तो अधिकांशत: यह सब मात्र हिन्दू संस्कृति में ही दूषित हो रहा है। बाकी धर्म तो अपने-अपने रीति-रिवाजों और संस्कारों को बचाए हुए हैं। कहने को तो बहुत कुछ कहा और लिखा जा सकता है भारतीय संस्कृति की होती संध्या पर। परन्तु इतना तो जरूर देखना चाहिए कि आज हम संस्कृति से दूर होते होते कहां से कहां पहुंच गए हैं।
