जयपुर। जयपुर पुलिस इन दिनों राजधानी की सड़कों पर भीख मांगकर गुजर बसर कर रहे और खानाबदोश रहने वाले लोगों का सर्वे कर रही है। अब तक करीब एक हजार भिखारियों का सर्वे किया जा चुका है। सर्वे करने जुटी पुलिस टीम की मुलाकात चांदपोल बाजार में मेट्रो स्टेशन के पास पैर में गहरा जख्म लिए लेटे हुए एक खानाबदोश व्यक्ति से हुई। जिसकी कहानी सुनकर पुलिसकर्मी भी हैरान रह गए। उनका दिल पसीज गया। पिछले कई सालों से फुटपाथ पर रात गुजारने और मजदूरी कर अपना पेट पालने वाले व्यक्ति का नाम सुनील शर्मा है। पुलिस को बातचीत में पता चला कि वे नेशनल अवॉर्ड जीत चुके हैं।
52 वर्षीय सुनील मूल रूप से कोटा में दादाबाड़ी के रहने वाले हैं। एक एक्सीडेंट के बाद पैर में गहरा जख्म होने के बाद सुनील मजदूरी भी नहीं कर पा रहे हैं। लोगों की मदद से इंदिरा रसोई से भोजन कर किसी तरह पेट पालते हैं। एसीपी नरेंद्र दायमा व पुलिस इंस्पेक्टर गुलजारीलाल की अगुवाई में नार्थ जिले में सर्वे कर रही टीम ने मेट्रो स्टेशन के पास सुनील को भिखारी समझकर बातचीत की। तब सुनील ने कहा कि मैं कोई भिखारी नहीं हूं। मैं किसी से पैसे नहीं मांगता हूं। हां, राहगीरों की मदद से मांगकर इंदिरा रसोई से 8 रुपए का खाना जरुर खा लेता हूं।
सुनील ने बताया कि मैं मजदूरी करता हूं। बेलदारी कर लेता हूं। गाड़ियों में सामान ढो लेता हूं। एक्सीडेंट के बाद अब मजदूरी भी नहीं कर पा रहा हूं। मैं अब मजबूर हूं, लेकिन पैर थोड़ा पैर सही होने पर काम करूंगा। सुनील ने कहा कि मजदूरी नहीं करने से जेब में पैसे नहीं है। पैर के जख्म की दवाएं चल रही है। दवा फ्री में मिल जाती है, लेकिन खाना फ्री में नहीं मिलता है। इसलिए लोगों से कहकर खाना खा लेता हूं। मैंने भी पहले लोगों को खाना खिलाया है, लेकिन अब मेरी मजबूरी है। मैं कहीं भी फुटपाथ पर सो जाता हूं।

पुलिस ने सुनील से बातचीत कर उनके बारे में जानकारी जुटाई। तब सुनील के जवाब सुनकर पुलिस भी हैरान रह गई। सुनील ने बताया कि उनके पिता रेलवे में बड़े अफसर थे। हम कोटा की रेलवे कॉलोनी में रहते थे। वहीं, सोफिया स्कूल में पढ़ा। इसके बाद पिता का ट्रांसफर जयपुर हो गया। तब बनीपार्क में टैगोर विद्या भवन में पढ़ा।
इसके बाद केंद्रीय विद्यालय नंबर 2 में एडमिशन लिया। वहां 12वीं तक पढ़ाई की। फिर तिलक नगर में एलबीएस कॉलेज से इकोनोमिक्स, राजनीतिक विज्ञान, अर्थशास्त्र विषयों में ग्रेजुएशन किया। सुनील एनडीए का एग्जाम भी क्वालीफाई कर चुके थे। एयरफोर्स का भी एग्जाम दिया, लेकिन जॉइन नहीं किया। इसके अलावा कई प्रतियोगी परीक्षाओं की तैयारी भी की।

पुलिस इंस्पेक्टर गुलजारीलाल, कांस्टेबल कर्मवीर ने सुनील से गहराई से पूछताछ की। तब सुनील ने बताया कि वह स्कूल व कॉलेज में बेस्ट एनसीसी कैडेट रहे थे। वर्ष 1987 में राष्ट्रपति आर. वेंकटरमन ने सुनील को राष्ट्रपति पदक से सम्मानित किया था। इसलिए 1989 में सुनील की स्काउट कोटे से रेलवे में TC की नौकरी लग गई। उन्होंने जॉइनिंग कर ट्रेनिंग भी की, लेकिन तब मुंबई घूमने की इच्छा होती थी। इसलिए रेलवे की नौकरी छोड़कर मुंबई चला गया। वहां एक बड़ी निजी कंपनी में स्टोर इंचार्ज के पद पर जॉब की। तब वर्ष 2001 में उनकी 26 हजार रुपए की सैलेरी थी।

सुनील के मुताबिक करीब 11 साल मुंबई में ही जॉब करते रहे। कंपनी का प्लांट बंद हो गया। कंपनी उनको कलकत्ता भेजना चाहती थी, लेकिन वह जॉब छोड़कर 2007 में जयपुर आ गए। सुनील ने यहां अपने पिता की सेवा की। माता-पिता के देहांत के बाद घर छोड़कर मजदूरी करने लगे। खानाबदोश रहने लगे। सुनील का कहना है कि उनके भाई कोटा में उनको रखने को तैयार है, लेकिन उनका मन नहीं है। इसलिए घर छोड़ दिया। सुनील ने शादी भी नहीं की। परिवार में छोटा भाई और बड़ा भाई है। उनके भाई ने ही एक्सीडेंट होने पर इलाज में करीब डेढ़ लाख रुपए का खर्च किया था। तब भाई जयपुर में ही था। वह अब मुंबई चला गया।
