पार्टी के वरिष्ठ नेता गुलाम नबी आजाद ने कहा कि कांग्रेस में सभी धर्म, लोग और जाति का सम्मान किया जाता है। यही हमारी पार्टी की ताकत है। उन्होंने कहा कि आज कई बरसों बाद हम राज्य का हिस्सा नहीं हैं, हमारी पहचान खत्म हो गई है। राज्य का दर्जा वापस पाने के लिए हमारी संसद के अंदर और बाहर लड़ाई जारी रहेगी। जब तब यहां चुने हुए नुमाइंदे मंत्री और मुख्यमंत्री नहीं होंगे बेरोजगारी, सड़कों और स्कूलों की ये हालत जारी रहेगी। उन्होंने कहा कि मैं राज्यसभा से रिटायर हुआ हूं, राजनीति से रिटायर नहीं हुआ और मैं संसद से पहली बार रिटायर नहीं हुआ हूं।
आजाद कांग्रेस को समझने वाले नेता : तिवारी
कांग्रेस नेता मनीष तिवारी ने कहा कि आजाद एक संकल्पित कांग्रेसी नेता हैं। आजाद उन नेताओं में से हैं, जो कांग्रेस को समझते हैं। कांग्रेस और यह राष्ट्र दोनों को ही गुलाम नबी आजाद के मार्गदर्शन की जरूरत है। उन्होंने भाजपा पर निशाना साधते हुए कहा कि ऐसा पहले कभी नहीं हुआ कि किसी प्रदेश को बांटकर दो केंद्र शासित प्रदेश बना दिए गए हैं। जम्मू कश्मीर को बांट दिया गया और हम इसके लिए लड़ते रहेंगे।

कार्यक्रम में पहुंचे राज बब्बर ने कहा, ‘लोग हमें G-23 कहते हैं, लेकिन मैं इसे गांधी-23 कहता हूं। इस देश के कानून और संविधान को महात्मा गांधी की विचारधारा, संकल्प और सोच के मुताबिक बनाया गया था। कांग्रेस इसे पूरी ताकत से आगे ले जाने के लिए तैयार है। G-23 चाहता है कि कांग्रेस मजबूत बने।
