स्मृति व्याख्यानमाला की संयोजिका इतिहास विभाग की सहायक आचार्य डॉ मेघना शर्मा ने अतिथि परिचय के साथ-साथ बीकानेर के महाराजा गंगा सिंह को आधुनिक बीकानेर का निर्माता बताया और कहा कि आज मरूभूमि की हरियाली महाराजा गंगा सिंह की ऋणी है।
इससे पूर्व देवी सरस्वती और महाराजा गंगा सिंह के चित्र पर माल्यार्पण कर कार्यक्रम का विधिवत शुभारंभ हुआ। स्वागत भाषण इतिहास विभाग के विभागाध्यक्ष व निदेशक शोध प्रो राजाराम चॉयल ने पढ़ते हुए महाराजा गंगा सिंह पर विस्तृत शोध की जरूरत पर बल दिया।
