गांधीनगर। गुजरात सरकार ने कहा है कि वह हाईकोर्ट से सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर मास्क नहीं पहनने के जुर्माने को मौजूदा 1,000 रुपये से घटाकर 500 रुपये करने की अनुमति देने का आग्रह करेगी। पिछले साल अदालत के सुझाव पर गुजरात सरकार ने जुर्माना 500 रुपये से बढ़ाकर 1,000 रुपये कर दिया था। पिछले साल जब महामारी की पहली लहर अपने चरम पर थी, उस वक्त गुजरात उच्च न्यायालय ने अपने एक आदेश में सरकार को सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर बिना मास्क के पाए जाने वालों से न्यूनतम 1,000 रुपये का जुर्माना वसूलने का आदेश दिया था, जिसके बाद सरकार ने जुर्माने को मौजूदा स्तर तक बढ़ा दिया था। अगस्त, 2020 में राज्य में कोरोनावायरस के मामलों की बढ़ती संख्या के दौरान उच्च न्यायालय ने देखा था कि कोरोना वायरस को रोकने के मद्देनजर मास्क सबसे बेहतर उपायों में से एक है। अब, चूंकि कोविड-19 की दूसरी लहर के बाद कोरोनावायरस के मामलों की संख्या फिर से घट रही है, राज्य सरकार को लगता है कि 1,000 रुपये का वर्तमान जुर्माना आधा होना चाहिए। गुजरात के मुख्यमंत्री विजय रूपाणी ने सोमवार को कानूनी अधिकारियों को निर्देश दिया कि वे उच्च न्यायालय से अनुरोध करने के लिए तैयार रहें कि वह जुर्माना 500 रुपये तक कम करने की अनुमति दें।
